Please, welcome - Fast Data Morning@Lohika, which will be held on 4 March, 2017 at Lohika Lviv Office. Here is an overview of what we've prepared for you:
Speaker: Andriy Zabavskyy, Solutions Architect, Softserve During his career that began in 2006, Andriy performed roles of a database, business intelligence and big data engineer, designed dozens of data warehouses and data integration solutions.
Currently he is a solutions architect at Softserve, conducts internal trainings related to advanced databases, distributed systems and SQL. Besides software engineering work he is involved in charity initiatives. In spare time fosters 3 beloved children.
Talk: “A Closer Look at Apache Kudu”
During this introductory talk, you will get acquainted with Apache Kudu - a storage engine that enables fast analytics on fast data. In particular, Andriy will review reasoning for choosing Kudu, its building blocks and a cluster architecture. In addition, he will review example of its real usage on one of the projects, and, of course, lessons learnt. As a result, you may ask yourself, maybe Kudu is the right "animal" for you?
This talk may be useful for data, business intelligence or software engineers who are interested in a fast storage for their analytics.

Talk: “Cassandra Under the Hood”
This deep dive presentation will be useful for everybody who is trying to understand conceptual features that are implemented inside Cassandra DB. This knowledge might help you to choose the big data storage in future. Also this talk will be interesting for engineers who are going to or already are using Cassandra as a data storage but don't know how Cassandra behaves under the hood and, as a result, don’t understand what can be improved or tuned. In particular Andriy is going to cover architecture, data model, read & write operations, etc.
